6 Diciembre 2022

On the occasion of Human Rights day, celebrated globally on 10 December, RTE will be participating in a UNESCO event on ‘Transforming education through human rights’. The objective of the event is to deepen a discussion between youth and policy makers on the evolving role of human rights and their transformative potential for societies. The session will bring together young people, human rights experts and policy makers to input on the parameters and priority areas for human rights and education, with attention to formulating the next steps in implementing the Youth Declaration on Transforming Education.

The event, which will be held online, will take place between 13.00 and 15.00 Central European Time (Paris/Madrid/Berlin).

Three parallel sessions will be held as part of the event:

Delphine Dorsi, RTE’s Executive Director, will deliver the keynote speech at the first session alongside Rolla Moumné, Programme Specialist, Right to Education Programme, UNESCO; Dylan Yap, Youth Activist, Philippines; Katie Nguyen, Consultant, Right to Education Programme, UNESCO; Peg Magnusson, Trainee, Permanent Delegation of Sweden to UNESCO.

This event builds on the ongoing consultative process of the Initiative on the evolving right to education, to which RTE has provided written and oral contributions. This will be the first time that youth voices will be heard on the subject of the potential expansion or revision of the international legal framework surrounding the right to education.

The event will be held online with English and French interpretation.
