There is currently no valid Constitution in Afghanistan. The Islamist freedom fighters Taliban are imposing a strictly religious regime where not even Saudi-style veils, which show the eyes, are acceptable. The State takes permanent care of the young generation and provides necessary opportunities for their education, (...).
Chapter III - Citizenship, basic rights, freedoms and duties of citizens
Art.56
1. The citizens of the Republic of Afghanistan have the right to free education.
2. The State shall adopt necessary measures for the eradication of illiteracy, generalization of balanced education, education in mother tongue, ensuring compulsory primary education, gradual expansion of general, technical, professional and vocational education and growth of the system of higher education for training national cadres.
3. In the Republic of Afghanistan, the formation of education and higher education institutions by private sector and foreign persons is allowed in accordance with the law.
